Monkeydevil extends its range of payment solutions
In June 2007 one of our existing clients (Ikusa MMA, a supplier of mixed martial arts and ultimate fighting clothing and accessories), approached us to extend their current on-line payment solution.Ikusa were using the most simple of Monkeydevil's payment solutions, the basic Paypal system whereby on-line shoppers are redirected to the Paypal website to make their payment and then redirected back to the site once the transaction has been completed.
Ikusa were becoming concerned that non-Paypal members where being put off completing purchases because of the redirection to the Paypal site. However, Ikusa did not want to change their payment providers as they were very happy with the security of the service being offered by Paypal and did not want to lose those customers that prefer to use Paypal for on-line shopping.
For these reasons it was decided that rather than changing to Monkeydevils other payment solution powered by Protx, Monkeydevil would integrate the Paypal website payments pro system with their existing catalogue system.
Class based solution for Reusability
Monkeydevil decided on implementing the PayPal website payment pro solution using a class based approach. The thinking behind this was that although the version of the catalogue system used by Ikusa was not a class based system, implementing the solution as a class would mean that the opportunity for reuse of the code in later systems would be increased.
After extensive testing, the new payment system has been put into operation on the live Ikusa site. However, in the short term we will be closely monitoring the raising of orders and processing of payments as it is of critical importance to ourselves to spot any problems before they have any significant impact on the client. So far everything seems to be going according to plan!
