Carcheckers Vehicle Inspection Management System

Carcheckers are a southwest based company that provide vehicle inspections to both public and corporate clients nationwide.

They approached Monkeydevil in August of 2006 and asked us to produce a software system that would help them to stream line their business processes and to enable them to more efficiently handle an ever increasing number of vehicle inspections.

It was hoped that the implementation of a fully customised business model and the resulting efficiencies, would help Carcheckers to secure a contract to provide vehicle inspections on behalf of the AA, the largest vehicle inspection company in the UK. We are pleased to say that it did.

The system was designed to cover all aspects of Carcheckers business not simply the process of raising an inspection, assigning an engineer and issuing the resulting report. It also provides facilities for invoicing, SLA tracking and management of business sub-contractors and their access to the system.

The system went live in early 2007 and after a few minor bug fixes has been operating virtually error free ever since. In fact, Carcheckers were so impressed with the job we did that they have retained our services on a long-term maintenance and development contract.

System features


As well as the business specific features relating to producing vehicle inspection reports, the Carcheckers system provides a number of other more generic features.

  1. User management - System administrators can create, modify and delete user accounts as well as specifying levels of system access and restricting the functionality available to sub sets of users.
  2. Management of Business Partners - The system allows the creation of 'user' accounts for companies that Carcheckers work with. This facility allows Carcheckers to hand over the administration of a client companies users to the client company itself. Again, as with user management, system access and functionality can be controlled by Carcheckers.
  3. SLA Tracking - As part of Carcheckers agreement with the AA there are a number of fixed targets that Carcheckers must meet with regard to performing vehicle inspections for AA customers. In order to help Carcheckers monitor that the service level agreement is being met, there are facilities to view and print reports showing the exact timings between the key phases in the inspection process.
  4. Invoice Management - The system provides a number of methods of invoicing that are tailored to the methods used by Carcheckers. They can raise 'self-billing' invoices against themselves in order to calculate how much to pay their inspectors. They can also raise management fee invoices, which are used to bill the companies that Carcheckers provide inspection services on behalf of.
